Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to "forcefully attack Hezbollah targets in Lebanon," according to an official statement from his office.
The Israeli army announces that operations are continuing in southern Lebanon, striking structures that, according to it, have been used by Hezbollah to carry out attacks on Israel.
The IDF statement said: "The sites were attacked with the aim of eliminating a threat to IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians, following the use of these structures by Hezbollah to carry out attacks against IDF soldiers and the State of Israel."
Footage from the ground shows smoke rising after an explosion in the village of Taybeh in southern Lebanon, reported by the EPA/Shutterstock agency.
The developments come at a time when international attention is also focused on diplomacy between Iran and the United States. Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon would be extended by three weeks. However, both Israel and Hezbollah continue to accuse each other of violating the agreement.
