The Serbian opposition came to the square a day after the results of the early elections. Vucic was once again declared "king" and for this reason the protests broke out.
The opposition coalition "Serbia against violence" claims that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) received 21,000 more votes than their list in the elections in Belgrade. According to them, the votes have been alienated. For this reason, he was threatened with a hunger strike.
“Given that more than 40,000 people without legal residence were brought to Belgrade in an organized manner to support the SNS list, which changed drastically reduced the electoral will of the citizens of Belgrade, we demand the cancellation of the elections in the city of Belgrade and the repetition of voting for the Municipal Assembly", said the coalition. This coalition also demanded the "cleaning of the electoral list".

Meanwhile, the independent Center for Research, Transparency and Accountability (CRTA) said that on December 17 they saw indications that voters were brought from Bosnia and Herzegovina and other former Yugoslav republics to vote in the elections in Serbia.
Earlier, SNS rejected the accusations that it influenced the will of the citizens during the December 17 elections.

The president of SNS, Milosh Vucevic, declared that he is "sure" that his list won in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, and that he believes that Aleksandar Shapic will be the mayor of the city.
The leaders of the opposition coalition, Miroslav Aleksič and Marinka Tepič, have started a hunger strike in front of the building of the Electoral Commission until the cancellation of the elections in Belgrade.

According to them, there were numerous irregularities in the process and they demand the re-run of the elections.
“We ask the Electoral Commission to cancel the elections in Belgrade, due to the fraud and irregularity of the results, due to the violation of the electoral will of the citizens of Belgrade. We will send all the evidence and materials we collected yesterday, which clearly show that the result achieved by the Serbian Progressive party in Belgrade was achieved thanks to people who came to vote in Belgrade, even though they do not live there . We have a situation where the minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina has come to vote, which is unprecedented and there is no question of any regularity. Therefore, these elections should be canceled", said Miroslav Aleksic.
