A container ship has been identified as the first maritime vessel to pass through the Strait of Hormuz since the United States imposed a blockade on tankers and ports linked to Iran.
According to the BBC and tracking data from the MarineTraffic platform, the ship "Paya Lebar" is sailing towards Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, after departing from India, transiting one of the most sensitive maritime corridors in the world.
Meanwhile, another ship, the tanker “Rich Starry,” was towed while approaching the Strait, according to the same sources. It is not yet clear whether this ship, sanctioned by the US, was intending to pass through the Gulf of Oman or enter the blockaded area.
The developments come at a time of high tension in the region, where any movement in the Strait of Hormuz is closely monitored due to its strategic importance for global energy trade.
