US President Donald Trump reiterated his Monday deadline for Iran to reach a deal and open the Strait of Hormuz, or face attacks on their energy infrastructure.
In a phone interview with Fox News journalist Trey Yingst, Trump said that Iranians who are negotiating with the United States, who will be part of reaching that agreement, have been offered limited amnesty.
In contrast, Trump stated during the interview that if a deal is not reached, the US would take Iranian oil.
According to Fox News, Trump further stated that the Iranians were trying to delay the timeline for negotiations for a deal, which he said caused the attack on the bridge last week.
He further stressed that there is "a good chance" of a deal by Monday's deadline, although there have been no public indications from Iranian officials that a deal was imminent.
Trump has given Iran until April 6 to reach a deal or face attacks on critical infrastructure, after extending an earlier deadline by 10 days.
