Turkish authorities announced today that they have arrested 32 people suspected of being members of the Islamic State, who are suspected of preparing attacks against synagogues, churches and the Iraqi embassy.
A senior official said the 32 people were arrested during raids by security forces and the Turkish Intelligence Service (MIT) in nine different cities, including Istanbul and Ankara.
" Two of the suspects had gone to synagogues and churches ," the official said, also referring to a third person who was planning an attack on the Iraqi embassy.
According to this source, the three suspects are considered important members of the jihadist organization.
Turkish police last week announced a major operation in 32 cities across the country and the arrest of more than 300 people for suspected links to Islamic State.
