Ten foreign nationals have been arrested in the United Arab Emirates, accused of posting videos on social media of missile and drone attacks on the country, according to the official Emirates News Agency (WAM).
According to the news agency, they are accused of sharing videos containing real images of air defense systems intercepting attacks, as well as content generated using artificial intelligence and depicting suspected attacks on famous monuments.
The report does not mention their nationalities.
The report states that sharing such material “whether true or false, could affect public safety.” The UAE Attorney General, Hamad Al Shamsi, said that these crimes are punishable by a minimum of one year in prison and a fine of at least 100,000 dirhams (about 23,000 euros).
