If we do not give more support to Ukraine, there is a risk that Russia will seize more territory.
At the end of a two-day meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, said in a press conference that the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine remains serious.
" We must do more to help Ukraine ," he said, adding that support must be placed on a more stable basis.
Stoltenberg stated that under these conditions, the allies must do two things, supply Ukraine with weapons as soon as possible and ensure that they can do it for a long time.
" Allies need to do two things: mobilize more support for Kiev in the coming days and weeks, and then also ensure that we are able to create a stronger and more robust long-term support framework, so that aid can continue on a more predictable basis" , said Stoltenberg, reports "The Guardian".
The head of NATO reiterated that the military leadership of the alliance has been tasked with creating a structure, which would have to be supported by a financial commitment. In case of failure to act quickly, the head of NATO stated that Russia could occupy more territories.
" The situation on the battlefield is difficult, there is an urgency when it comes to the mobilization of mineral support for Ukraine. If we do not give more support to Ukraine, there is a risk that Russia will occupy more territories ," he warned.
Asked about Ukraine's request for more air defense, Jens Stoltenberg said allies understand the urgency.
