The case of the disappearance of two-year-old Danka Ilić, which shocked Serbia, had a tragic end.
Little Danka disappeared on March 26 while playing in front of her house in the village of Bansko Polije, in northeastern Serbia, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced today that the little girl had died.
Her death was caused by two waterworks workers who dragged the little girl in their service car and then dumped her dead body in an area used as an illegal dump. The perpetrators have been arrested and have admitted their guilt, announced the president of Serbia.
The disappearance of little Danka had mobilized the Serbian authorities, but also Interpol as there were suspicions that she had been kidnapped by citizens of a neighboring country. In Serbia, the immediate reporting system for the disappearance of a minor (Amber Alert) worked for the first time and there was a great reaction from the public about the efforts of the authorities to find the whereabouts of two-year-old Danka Ilic.
