The downing of an American fighter jet over Iran constitutes the first incident of this kind since the start of the conflict and is considered a moment of particular importance for developments on the ground.

According to an analysis published by CNN, this development highlights the growing risks to American personnel in a prolonged war with Iran. President Donald Trump has stated that military operations are expected to continue for at least another two to three weeks.

The longer these operations continue, the higher the risk of further losses among American forces. Since the end of February, when the conflict began, at least 13 American service members have been killed and 365 others have been wounded.

The incident comes at a time when US administration officials have repeatedly stated that US forces have complete air superiority over Iran and that the war is nearing an end. However, the downing of the F-15E raises doubts about that assessment.

The circumstances of the crash remain unclear. Although reports suggest that Iranian anti-aircraft systems have been severely damaged by US and Israeli strikes, the presence of man-portable air defense systems (MANPADs) continues to pose a difficult threat to neutralize.

The analysis emphasizes that under such conditions, air superiority cannot be considered absolute, reflecting the complexity of the situation on the ground and the challenges for ongoing military operations.
