Serbia continues to play with two goals. On the one hand, it flirts with the West, on the other hand, it continues to maintain close relations with Russia. Today, Vučić received a letter from President Biden, as part of the celebration of citizenship. The American president made it clear that Kosovo's independence must be accepted.
But it didn't take long and Moscow entered the dance. President Putin has also sent him a letter, who appreciates Vučić for his loyalty.
" I send you my heartiest congratulations on the occasion of the national holiday of Serbia's citizenship day. Relations between our countries are based on centuries-old traditions of friendship, cultural and spiritual closeness. I am convinced that we will continue to strengthen the Russian-Serbian strategic partnership in all aspects, to develop constructive cooperation in various fields ," Putin said.
Biden made his letter emphasizing that for Serbia there is no quick normalization and successful future without accepting the necessary compromises in the dialogue with Kosovo.
" The agreement on normalization and implementation represents key steps towards a more peaceful and successful future for Serbia, the region and Europe ," the US president's letter states.
In the letter addressed to the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, for the Day of Serbian Citizenship, Biden has guaranteed that the USA will work closely with Serbia and Kosovo and the European Union in dialogue.
" With the elections behind you, I encourage Serbia to move forward in promoting peace and stability throughout the region and to take proactive steps, including compromise when necessary, in order to quickly normalize relations with Kosovo through dialogue under the auspices of the Union European. The United States will continue to work closely with you, Pristina, and our European Union partners to achieve this important goal ," Biden's letter to Vucic says, among other things, N1 reports.
