Russia has attacked Ukraine again, striking the port city of Odessa, causing at least two deaths and injuring five others.
Regional governor Oleh Kiper confirmed that a new wave of drone attacks has hit residential areas and civilian objects.
"The enemy is attacking Odessa with attack drones. There is significant damage to civilian infrastructure, especially housing," Kiper said in a post on Telegram.
He later added that the victims included residents of a building that was directly hit. According to local authorities, high-rise residential buildings, a supermarket and a school were among the objects affected by the airstrikes. Images posted on social media, which have not yet been independently verified, show powerful explosions and severely damaged structures.
Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov called the attack "another brutal act against the civilian population" and said emergency crews were working in several parts of the city to extract survivors and restore power and communications.
Meanwhile, other attacks were reported in other cities. In Kharkiv, a drone hit a gas station in the city center, while explosions were also heard in Sumy. Russia has not yet given any official comment on these attacks.
