Israeli leaders are trying to force the people of Gaza to leave, and are lying about the hostages, the ruler of Qatar has said. In an unusually fiery attack, the Emir of Qatar has claimed that Israel wants to make Gaza "uninhabitable" in order to displace its population.
Responding to the IDF attack on a Hamas negotiating team in Doha last week, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani highlighted what he called inconsistencies in Israel's strategy.
" If Israel wants to kill the political leadership of Hamas, then why negotiate with it? And if it wants to negotiate the release of hostages, then why kill everyone who can negotiate with it?" he said.
Al Thani claimed that Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, really intends for Israel to intervene wherever and whenever it wants and that he dreams of the Arab region becoming an Israeli sphere of influence. He described the latter as a "dangerous deception." The emir appeared to rule out further official Israeli visits to his country.
" How can we welcome Israeli delegations to our country for negotiations, when those who sent these delegations are plotting to bomb this country? There is no room to deal with such a cowardly and treacherous party. Those who are constantly working to kill the party in these negotiations will surely do everything to ensure the failure of these negotiations. When they claim to demand the release of hostages, this is simply a lie," he added.

He further said that last week's Israeli attack was carried out in a residential neighborhood that includes schools and diplomatic missions.
"It was a serious violation of Qatar's sovereignty and violated international conventions and norms ," he said.
Al Thani described Qatar as a "mediating state" which has made strong efforts for two years to reach a solution in Gaza.
