
Israel has agreed to start formal peace talks with Lebanon, scheduled for next Tuesday in Washington, while Hezbollah will not be part of the process, Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Leiter confirmed.
He stated that Israel refuses to hold ceasefire negotiations with Hezbollah, describing it as a terrorist organization that continues attacks and constitutes a major obstacle to achieving peace between the two countries.
"Israel has refused to discuss a ceasefire with the terrorist organization Hezbollah, which continues to attack Israel and is the main obstacle to peace between the two countries," said Israeli Ambassador to the US, Michael Leiter.
According to a statement from the Lebanese president's office, the US-brokered talks will focus primarily on reaching a ceasefire in the Israel-Lebanon conflict.
