US Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth has warned that the United States is prepared to take action, depending on the progress of negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program.
In a reaction on the X platform, Hegseth used the phrase “locked and loaded,” implying that the US is “ready for action.” His comment came after US Vice President JD Vance made the statement during a press conference at the White House.
Vance stressed that Washington will not accept any agreement that would pave the way for Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.
"As President Trump told me, we are ready to act. We don't want to go down that path, but the president is willing and able to do so, if necessary," Vance said.
The statements come at a time when relations between the US and Iran remain tense, while talks over the Iranian nuclear program still remain unclear.
