Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has called for caution after recent debates comparing the US intervention in Venezuela to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
During a press conference in Budapest, Orbán said that these parallels are dangerous and that the situations are completely different from each other.
According to the head of the Hungarian government, an equality sign cannot be established between the two conflicts, as the political and geographical circumstances are radically different.
However, he was more measured when asked about the hot-button issue of Greenland. Orbán noted that the case of the Danish island is completely different, recalling that Denmark and the US are both members of NATO.
The Hungarian prime minister did not give a final position, but hinted that Budapest would carefully assess the situation.
"If this issue is raised officially, Hungary will maintain its position," Orbán declared, underlining that loyalty to the NATO alliance will be a key factor in their decision-making.
