A building under renovation in the Colli Aniene area of the Italian capital, Rome, caught fire at noon this Friday, leaving behind one victim and 17 injured.
Three of the injured are reported to be in serious condition, while the victim is a 20-year-old man.
Ten people died of suffocation due to the smoke, while thirty residents of the building were rescued by about sixty firefighters who were engaged to put out the flames.
The main suspicions are that the fire started from an electric car parked under the building, while the fire brigade and the Roman police are near the scene to investigate the causes of the fire.
In the videos published by the Italian media, people can be heard screaming as they quickly leave the building.
"Get out, get out of there", is the main call, but there are those inside the buildings who ask the firefighters for help: "I want to get out of the house".
