Powerful explosion in Ankara, Turkish minister: One of the terrorists blew himself up

An explosion was heard in front of the Red Crescent building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, followed by gunfire. 

"Two terrorists who came in a vehicle in front of the gate of the General Directorate of Security, carried out a bomb attack and one of the terrorists blew himself up," said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya.

After the explosion and gunfire near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, police forces took extensive security measures in the area.

Yerlikaya announced that two police officers were slightly injured in the incident that happened around 09:30.
