US President Donald Trump has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that his patience is running out, but he stopped short of threatening new sanctions over the war in Ukraine.
Asked if his patience with Putin had run out, Trump said: "Yes. It is running out and it is running out fast," Trump wrote.
“ I have had a good relationship with Putin for a long time, but I have a frustration with him because he is not ending the war. We will have to come down very, very hard. Sanctions on banks and oil were an option, along with tariffs, but European countries also had to participate. But I have already done it. I have done a lot. India, one of the largest buyers of Russian oil, was facing a 50% tariff on its exports to the US.
"This is not an easy thing to do. This is a big issue and it causes a rift with India. And remember this, this is a European problem, much more than our problem ," Trump said.
