"There is no peace on Russia's terms", Stoltenberg: We all want

The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has stated that the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia should not be rushed, especially if it is Moscow that dictates the terms of peace between the two countries.

After South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said in Kiev this week that "peace must be achieved through diplomacy, as soon as possible", Stoltenberg agreed, but not under any conditions.

" We all want this war to end. But for peace to last, there must be justice. "Peace does not mean freezing the conflict and accepting an agreement dictated by Russia ," Stoltenberg told the German newspaper "Welt am Zontag".

The head of the Alliance announced that at the summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, to be held in July, NATO will approve an aid package to bring Ukraine up to NATO standards over a period of several years.

" Political ties should also be intensified. This will bring Ukraine closer to NATO ," said the head of the North Atlantic alliance.

The NATO chief praised Germany's national security strategy, which was approved on Wednesday and aims to strengthen the Bundeswehr through better equipment and operational readiness.

" Germany's first national security strategy is an important document. and a turning point test ," he said, as he hailed Germany's commitment to meeting NATO's defense spending targets and building one of the strongest armed forces in Europe.
