Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the army's list of targets in Lebanon had been expanded to include all bridges over the Litani River, a focal point of the renewed Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
Katz also ordered the army to target Lebanese homes near Israel's northern border in its bid to destroy the Iranian-backed militant group Hezbollah, as we reported here at the weekend.
Hezbollah fighters are said to be using the strategic river crossings to transport fighters and weapons into southern Lebanon.
Israel destroyed the key Qasmiyeh bridge yesterday, giving an hour's warning before it was hit. But the Spanish government has condemned Israel for targeting what it called a flagrant and premeditated violation of international humanitarian law.
"Civilian infrastructure, including homes and healthcare facilities, can never be considered military objectives, under international law. Such actions violate the most fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, destroying the lives of innocent civilians ," she said.
In the government statement, it is stated that Spain categorically reiterates its condemnation of any attempt to isolate and divide Lebanese territory.
