First Lady Melania Trump wrote a "peace letter" to Russian President Vladimir Putin telling him "it's time" to protect children and future generations across the globe.
Fox News Digital exclusively obtained the "peace letter" the first lady wrote to Putin, which President Trump personally delivered to the Russian leader before their summit in Alaska.
Immediately after receiving the letter, Putin read it while the American and Russian delegations looked on.
"Dear President Putin," the first lady's letter begins. "Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their hearts, whether they are born by chance in a nation's rural village or in a grand city center. They dream of love, opportunity, and safety from danger."
"As parents, it is our duty to nurture the hope of the next generation," the letter continues. "As leaders, the responsibility to support our children extends beyond the comfort of some people."
"Without a doubt, we must strive to paint a world of dignity for all - so that every soul can awaken in peace and the future itself is perfectly protected," the letter read. "A simple but profound concept, Mr. Putin, with which I am sure you agree, is that the descendants of each generation begin their lives with a purity - an innocence that transcends geography, government and ideology."
The first lady goes on to say that "in today's world, some children are forced to maintain a quiet smile, untouched by the darkness around them - a silent challenge against the forces that could potentially claim their future."
"Mr. Putin, you alone can restore their melodious laughter," the first lady wrote. "By defending the innocence of these children, you will do more than just serve Russia - you serve humanity itself."
"Such a bold idea transcends all human divisions, and you, Mr. Putin, are capable of implementing this vision with the stroke of a pen today," she wrote. "It's time."
Melania Trump's "peace letter" was written ahead of her husband's historic meeting with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday. The meeting was the first U.S.-Russia summit since June 2021, which was under former President Joe Biden's administration and just eight months before Putin invaded Ukraine.
Although Trump and Putin had not met in person in years before Friday, they have spoken on the phone several times this year to discuss ending Russia's war with Ukraine.
