Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that both Iran and the United States have "expressed confidence that Pakistan will facilitate" talks between them, signaling a possible mediation role for Islamabad in one of the most sensitive international tensions.
He said that Pakistan “would be honored to host and facilitate meaningful talks between the two sides in the coming days,” suggesting that diplomatic efforts are underway. However, there has been no official confirmation from the US or Iran so far about participating in such a negotiation process.

Dar's remarks came after the first day of meetings in Islamabad between the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt. According to him, the parties discussed ways to end the conflict in the region "early and permanently", emphasizing the need for a lasting solution.
Dar also expressed "deep gratitude" for the support of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt for Pakistan's peace efforts, while announcing that he had also held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the UN Secretary-General, who, according to him, "have expressed support for the peace initiative."
In a parallel development, following the meeting between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, a statement was released stating that Pakistan "will always stand shoulder to shoulder" with Saudi Arabia and appreciating the "extraordinary restraint" shown by this country.
