Iran said on Friday that dialogue with the United States over Tehran's nuclear program is "meaningless" after the largest attack ever carried out by the Israeli military.
"The other side (the US) acted in a way that makes dialogue meaningless. You cannot claim to be negotiating and at the same time divide the work by allowing the Zionist regime (Israel) to target Iranian territory," the Tasnim news agency quoted foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei as saying.
He also said that Israel "managed to influence" the diplomatic process and that the Israeli attack would not have occurred without Washington's permission.
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian this afternoon about these developments.
In a statement to X, Macron said he called for the country's diplomatic facilities and citizens in Iran and the wider region "not to be targeted under any circumstances."
"I also called for maximum restraint to avoid escalation," he said.
The French leader has invited Pezeshkian "to quickly return to the negotiating table to reach an agreement."
