US President Donald Trump has said he is not happy with the latest Iranian proposal, adding that he is not sure if “we will make a deal” to end the war. His statement comes after Tehran sent new proposals for talks to end the standoff through a Pakistani mediator.
Meanwhile, General Mark Kimmitt, a former US assistant secretary of state, says Trump is likely to continue his threat to Iran that if it is not willing to make a deal, then the US will return to the use of military force.
“I think Trump will give the Iranians some time. The main thing he wants to see from the Iranians is a specific date to start negotiations ,” Kimmitt told Al Jazeera.
The Iranians sent a proposal today that Trump rejected, Kimmitt said, suggesting it is wise to wait until more proposals are on the table before reaching any kind of conclusion.
" If Iran continues to say it's not willing to talk about its nuclear capability, Trump will eventually say... let's go back to war until they get serious ," he added.
