The United States has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East, at a time when tensions in the region remain high, despite diplomatic contacts between Iran and the United States. Recent moves include the deployment of fighter jets and the approach of large naval vessels to the Persian Gulf area, according to reports by international media and independent observers.
The American portal Axios, citing flight radar data and a US official, reported that over the past 24 hours the US has deployed over 50 F-35, F-22 and F-16 fighter jets to the region.
Attention has also focused on the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, which according to reports may have headed towards the Mediterranean with the final destination being the area near the Persian Gulf. Some unofficial sources suggest that the ship has already passed the Strait of Gibraltar, however this information has not been officially confirmed.
The USS Gerald R. Ford can carry up to 75 aircraft in various configurations, including air superiority and attack aircraft, radar warning aircraft, anti-submarine warfare and logistics helicopters, and unmanned reconnaissance aircraft. According to military experts, the new technologies of this class of aircraft carriers allow for a higher rate of takeoffs and landings compared to previous generations.
The BBC reported that two US AWACS command and control aircraft have landed in the UK, while analysts at military intelligence company Jane's told BBC Verify that the current movements suggest preparations for extended operations. They noted that the continued flights of tanker and transport aircraft indicate structured logistical support, which usually accompanies high-intensity operations.
Meanwhile, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has been spotted in satellite imagery off the coast of Oman. According to expert analysis, it may have been in the area for several weeks, which is consistent with reports of regular reconnaissance flights by Iranian drones over the Strait of Hormuz.
Independent observers also report the deployment of 36 F-16s and 12 F-22s to the Middle East, as part of strategic transatlantic rotations known as “Coronet” missions. These operations are used to rapidly relocate forces between continents and are considered part of organized military power projection, not just routine exercises.
So far, US authorities have not officially announced a new military operation. However, the intensification of air and naval movements indicates an increase in readiness in a region that remains strategic for global security. /Pamphlet
