Former US President Donald Trump on Sunday took aim at the federal judge assigned to the case where he is accused of trying to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. Mr Trump's lawyer has argued that the actions taken by his client after the loss were simply "request".

Pence does not rule out testifying in the Trump case

Mr. Trump's lawyer, John Lauro, said he would welcome Mr. Pence's testimony if the former vice president chooses to do so. Lawyer Lauro argued in a series of television interviews on Sunday that any actions Mr. Trump took after the 2020 election were expressions of "his aspirations" protected by free speech.
"Mike Pence will be one of our best witnesses at trial," attorney Lauro said Sunday in an interview on ABC's "This Week."
"I look forward to having the opportunity to cross-examine Mr. Pence because he will completely eliminate any doubt that Mr. Trump, President Trump, firmly believed that election irregularities led to improper results," said attorney Lauro.
Pence became a central figure in the latest criminal charges against Republican Trump on Aug. 1, when a 45-page Justice Department indictment accused the former president of illegally trying to retain power after losing the 2020 election to the Democrat. Joe Biden.
