Donald Trump held a long phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday evening regarding the war in Iran.

According to Israeli media outlet Chanel12, the conversation was "long and dramatic," while the two leaders appear to be "on the verge of a decision" on the next step toward Tehran.

This communication comes after Trump's failed attempts to dissuade Tehran from its positions, despite the threats, harsh statements, and military actions he has warned of.

On Monday, the US president announced that he was suspending plans for the immediate resumption of strikes, at the request of Gulf Arab states, as "serious negotiations are underway" that could lead to an agreement acceptable to the US and Middle Eastern countries.

Despite the postponement, Trump maintained his tough rhetoric, declaring that US military forces remain on full alert for a "large-scale attack on Iran, at any moment, if an acceptable deal is not reached."

Revolutionary Guard Threats

Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards vowed to expand the war "beyond the region" of the Middle East if the United States and Israel attack Iran again.

"If the attack on Iran is repeated, the regional war will expand this time far beyond the region and our devastating strikes will break you," the Revolutionary Guard warned in a statement published on its website, Sepah News.

Iran's stance and American strategy

So far, there is no sign that Iran intends to accept the US demands, which include giving up its nuclear program, halting the development of ballistic missiles and cutting off support for regional allies in Gaza, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen.

According to the White House, the US president's preference remains peace and diplomacy, but he will only accept an agreement that "puts America first." Spokeswoman Olivia Wallace stressed that "President Trump holds all the cards and keeps all options on the table to ensure that Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon."

Iran continues to control the Strait of Hormuz, which has led to rising fuel prices and pressure on the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections.
