A serious political scandal has erupted in Montenegro after a video with intimate content was published on social media, involving a senior state official and an advisor to the country's president.

They are Mirjana Pajković, director for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, and Dejan Vukšić, former director of the National Security Agency, who is also married. After the video circulated, both submitted their resignations from their positions, causing strong reactions in public opinion and within government ranks.

The resignations were submitted at different times, following the publication of materials allegedly showing Pajković in an intimate act with Vukšić.

In a public statement, Pajković called on women not to remain silent about such cases, accusing Vukšić of blackmail with the video, the existence of which, according to her, she was unaware of until the moment of publication.

She said she had faced direct threats, claiming she had been told she would no longer have anywhere to live or hide in Montenegro, from people close to the country's president.

According to Pajković, the pressure and threats were intended to force her to remain silent and accept demands she did not want. She described the situation as a form of blackmail by people with institutional power.

Both sides have denied the allegations and filed criminal charges against each other. Pajković has filed a complaint for the unauthorized distribution of intimate materials and alleged threats, including calls from a phone line inside the president's office.

In a recorded message, a voice warns that the compromising materials would be seen by "all of Montenegro."

Vukšić, on the other hand, resigned in late December, citing personal reasons and denying any involvement in the release of the video. He claimed to have only seen the material after it began circulating on social media.

Vukšić also accused Pajković of stealing his phone and attempting blackmail regarding his candidacy for the Constitutional Court.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the release of the video. In Montenegro, distributing intimate material without consent is a serious criminal offense and is punishable by up to five years in prison.
