During the meeting in London for the recovery of Ukraine, the US Secretary General, Antony Blinken, met with the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, where they also took stock of the damage.
Shymhal stated that more than 400 billion dollars are needed for the reconstruction of the country, as a result of the destructive war.
" We hope for a productive cooperation to support and strengthen the sanctions even more. At least $411 billion is needed for long-term reconstruction. Every day, Russia is inflicting new losses on Ukraine, and unfortunately this figure will increase ," said Denys Shmyhal-Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Blinken announced that the US will provide 1.3 billion dollars in new economic aid to Ukraine. According to him, the main focus of the country's reconstruction will be the need for energy and investments in infrastructure.
" We will invest over $520 million to help Ukraine repair its energy grid, more than half of which has been destroyed by Russia. In addition to our humanitarian assistance for economic development, the United States will continue to invest in Ukraine's long-term efforts to strengthen government transparency ," Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State.
The US secretary added that support to Ukraine will continue as long as Russia continues its attacks. The war has been going on for more than 16 months now, while the country is facing serious consequences. Rocket attacks have destroyed buildings, mostly residential, leaving millions of Ukrainians homeless.
