The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has condemned the terrible scenes that followed a deadly attack on the hospital premises in Gaza.
"Nothing can justify bombing a hospital full of civilians. There must be a full investigation of the facts and those responsible must be held accountable," said von der Leyen in the European Parliament.
The killing of more than 500 Palestinians by an airstrike on a Gaza hospital filled with patients and people displaced by the bombing has sparked a wave of outrage around the world.
This is the bloodiest incident in Gaza since Israel began its relentless bombing campaign in retaliation for the Hamas action on October 7.
The Palestinian prime minister called it "a terrible crime, genocide by Israel" and said that countries that support it must also be held accountable.
On the other hand, the Israeli army said it had no details about the bombing, but was conducting investigations.
The Israel Defense Forces themselves stated that the hospital had been hit by a shell fired by the Palestinian militants themselves.
