Kosovo risks being used as part of a new bargain being prepared between the great powers to redivide the world...
In Pristina especially, but also in Tirana, there is an inexplicable enthusiasm for Donald Trump's explosive statements about Kosovo.
Since Vjosa Osmani, but also various analysts, have considered this approach as a political attention of the world's greatest power towards Albanians and Kosovo in particular.
No reason has been expressed from these circles for the enthusiasm shown, however their logic consists of a provincial mindset. Which means that if you are in the mind of the Empire, then things are fine.
In reality, this mindset is not only wrong, but also harmful. As is known, small countries are mentioned by Empires only for the sake of their own interests. And precisely in this regard, increased care will have to be taken to read the messages that come in such cases.
When you are in a situation of crisis, war, or when your soul is at its wits' end, any international mention or discussion of this crisis can be an opportunity for you. Something that doesn't happen in a case where you are mentioned for things that don't concern the country.
If Kosovo, occupied by Serbia, which sought to change ethnic relations in Kosovo through a technology of terror and cleansing, became part of international discussions, this was positive, as it would have been necessary to get out of that impasse. Fate and the allies brought about the Albanians winning this discussion, who were freed from the Serbian yoke and even gained a new state.
Meanwhile, today Kosovo has no crisis, except for an international political process for recognition by other countries or for inclusion in the UN and related international organizations.
A process that is no longer resolved by force as in 1999, but with an international conjuncture that agrees with Kosovo's independence. As is known, today Russia and China, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, are holding the issue hostage.
Meanwhile, Trump's frequent and increasingly frequent mention of Kosovo is, to say the least, problematic. Not only is the current White House chief using Kosovo as part of his virally encrypted stances, but also for the context of this discourse.
Trump says he has avoided a war between Kosovo and Serbia, which is unlikely to happen. Because if Serbia attacks Kosovo, it will have to attack NATO, which guards its borders. And in fact, apart from Trump, the US administration has not elaborated on this position.
What is happening shows something dangerous and even very dangerous. Something that former ambassador Chris Hill, one of the diplomats who knows the Balkans and the Albanian issue best, warned about before leaving Belgrade.
Kosovo risks being used as part of a new bargain being prepared between great powers to redivide the world.
It seems that Trump mentions Kosovo to show Putin from a distance the topics of discussion in this new Bazaar. Where there seem to be clear signals from Moscow, which has strategic interests in the Balkans. Mainly in Bosnia, in the Republika Srpska where it has invested billions, and of course in Serbia. But the inclusion of Kosovo in this new Bazaar, while it is a completed sovereign state and recognized by most of the West, is a terrible trap. If it comes as a fait accompli, if Washington offers the new pact for the division of Kosovo as "take it or leave it", there is no more opportunity for us. Especially in this situation, where for 6 months Kosovo has not been able to install its institutions, which emerged from the February elections.
Meanwhile, for months now, very serious European circles that were against Kosovo in 1999, but were afraid of the US, have come to light. These are European circles like in France or Italy, which have a significant weight in public opinion.
Luca Caraciolo, a well-known analyst and director of the geopolitical magazine 'Limes' in Italy, part of the FIAT group, declared a month ago that "Kosovo is a failed state run by drug traffickers."
This character, or these types of characters, could not make these statements before, but today they can, because they have enough documents in their hands that give them freedom of action. And the internal developments in Kosovo are only helping these circles./ Pamphlet
