Is North Macedonia heading towards a dangerous geostrategic deviation?!

From this reality emerges a clear conclusion: the current crisis is geostrategic in nature, not simply political. The EU, Tirana, and Pristina must work together coherently to restore democratic functionality and halt the slide toward imported authoritarian models.

North Macedonia is entering a new phase of crisis, which can no longer be read as ordinary political turbulence. Beneath the visible movements of the domestic scene, a dangerous geostrategic deviation is taking shape, which directly challenges the Euro-Atlantic orientation of the state. Within the decision-making structures and in the public space, an architecture of influence rooted in the Serbian orbit and the Russian-Chinese vector has been consolidated, which has not only captured the institutions, but has also usurped the very political narrative of the main leaders. In this context, Mickoski's language no longer functions as an autonomous political articulation: it has become a medium of the oligarchy that has taken it hostage and displaced it towards a project that seeks to de-Europeanize the state, isolate it and return it to the circle of authoritarian influences.

In this new configuration, the single most substantial obstacle to the oligarchic project is the Albanians, the community that, for three decades, has steadfastly carried the burden and vision of the country's European orientation. Precisely for this reason, a sophisticated strategy was set up to dilute and, in essence, to steal the cause of integration from the Albanians. Local elections were used as a mechanism to distort representation, to weaken their institutional capacity and to shift the country's strategic direction away from the Euro-Atlantic axis. This is the moment when the alarm can no longer remain within the borders of North Macedonia: it must ring clearly in Brussels, Tirana and Pristina.

To prevent the state from derailing, the European Union and Albanian political centers must act with coordinated, sustained and measurable political and diplomatic pressure. This pressure must aim at two parallel objectives: the liberation of Mickoski from oligarchic hostage-taking and the liberation of Albanian political entities from Mickoski's pressure. Only a liberation of this blocked balance can return North Macedonia to its natural strategic lane and pave the way for it to join Albania and Montenegro in the accelerated integration process with the ultimate goal of EU membership by 2030. Without this intervention, the country risks becoming the most vulnerable point of Russian-Chinese influence in the Balkans and a destabilizing factor in the regional security architecture.

From this reality emerges a clear conclusion: the current crisis is of a geostrategic nature, not simply political. To get out of the spiral, a triple international, Albanian and institutional rescue plan is needed. The EU, Tirana and Pristina must interact coherently to restore democratic functionality and stop the slide towards imported authoritarian models. In parallel, Albanian political entities must be freed from the orbits that hold them hostage and re-actualize their fundamental mission: guaranteeing the European orientation of the state. The decisive step is the formation of an inclusive government, based on expertise and not on narrow interests, which will accelerate the approximation with the EU acquis, paving the way for structural reforms and restoring the trust of strategic partners.

The message is clear and inescapable: only coordinated, swift, and bold action can save North Macedonia from falling into the gray zone of authoritarian influences and set the country on the path to full European integration. Any delay strengthens Russian-Chinese influence and reduces the room for strategic maneuver. The time for action is no longer an option; it is imperative.

Albanians are part of the Islamic civilization, espsecially Macedonian ones, you act as Arabs and Turks, all of them speak Turkish, all of them wear hijab, build mosques everywhere, etc, what about this is "European"? Nothing, so stop pretending to care about so called European integration, you just want handouts
