The new opposition of Shehaj and Lapaj has, in all likelihood, rejected this old weapon with annoyance, impatient to join Berisha's ranks.
Sunday's partial elections without Tirana did not, nor were they expected to, have the importance and great media attention, as well as that of the electorate.
However, for politics, especially for new actors, such a case is an important "training" opportunity in a field where the big guys have the main power.
Especially, in the case when Sali Berisha's DP did not attempt to enter the battle, leaving the field empty. In this case, the new opposition had the chance to enter the real game of political war, finding the possibility of a coalition or alliance in the territory. An alliance, which is created by local actors, especially when we are dealing with relatively small municipalities, where the room for maneuver is greater.
Lefter Maliqi, an important actor in the Berat region, is right, as he has shown that he has brought about and received community representation there. This applies not only to Berat, but also to Vlora, where there was a disoriented political movement, as well as in Mat and Tepelenë.
The new opposition, namely Agron Shehaj's Mundësia party and Adriatik Lapaj's party, have literally fallen into the political trap set for them by Sali Berisha.
Who, faced with the continuous drying up of the political terrain around him, as well as the great fire coming from justice, has been forced to play with small and provisional intrigues, not having the comfort of a long-term political strategy.
With a very simple move, Sali Berisha trapped Shehaj and Lapaj, offering Florjan Binaj as a candidate, who was immediately supported by the two young actors.
A political act that resulted in a vacuum after the Constitutional Court's decision, but which in itself does not constitute a great sin.
There is no problem if the major party, namely the DP, imposes a preferred candidate, as is the case with Binaj, but the problem lies in the reasons for a "blind" belief by the new parties.
Whose votes they received on May 11th, they got after they campaigned as groups against the old establishment. While the logic of aligning with a whistle-blowing of the establishment's decisions is nothing more than political myopia.
In fact, the actors in the game went even further, aligning themselves or entering the public debate not only on the software practiced by Sali Berisha's suite, but also on its hardware.
Adriatik Lapaj's statement about the January 21 murders, at first seemed to be accidental, or a momentary oversight. Lapaj, to be exact, stated that he had information that Aleks Nika was shot by a projectile that did not come from the weapons of the Republic Guard. A sensational statement that did not receive the attention it deserved, only as a result of a brilliant intelligence of Mark Nika, Aleks's uncle, who was on a show with Lapaj.
With Olympic calm, lawyer Nikaj invited Lapaj to sober up and reflect, which the leader of Albania Becomes did immediately, not insisting on his nonsense. But upon closer inspection, the mention of the "bomb" of the "murder by the mob" was nothing more than an ancient code to communicate with Berisha.
On the other hand, Shehaj's Opportunity Party also did not play the expected leading role in an important event, although not as important as the general elections.
This whole scene, even if Sali Berisha had not been the one to cause it, still constitutes a quagmire, or at least a missed opportunity for the so-called new opposition, which was immediately offered to the first person who came to the doctor.
A coalition with Sali Berisha is by no means an unnatural solution for any party that is part of the spectrum, whether for pragmatism, strategy or tactics.
But in reality, this movement is doing nothing but losing the political advantage they created on May 11th, by taking the anti-establishment slice of the electorate. And now we are back to the old "Thessaloniki and Downhill" soup, which was not unexpected.
The only one who resisted this trap was Arlind Qori, who on the other hand also has an ideological armor detached from the DP, as a result of a leftist line, which justifies the movement. But beyond that, the political alignment he made in Tirana was simple and very clear. He ran for mayor again, thus placing another "jar" in the long line of politics. A problematic path, but one that has proven effective for those who follow it. It is not even certain that the line will continue to be long.
There are many examples where this line has turned out to be even shorter than expected. But coherence has proven to be a very fruitful political weapon, as it remains in the minds of the people who will vote.
The new opposition of Shehaj and Lapaj, in all likelihood, have rejected this old weapon with annoyance, with impatience to enter the ranks of Berisha. Who, it seems, took them out for nothing. But as someone said, "you haven't seen anything yet", and the worst is expected with the electoral reform...
