From the crisis of Macronism in France to the apparent difficulties of Keir Starmer in the United Kingdom, without forgetting the difficult situation of Friedrich Merz in Germany, all the main pro-European and democratic political families, socialists, liberals, populists, even where they are in government, seem increasingly in a crisis of consensus and pressed into defense.
And in the United States, the Democrats are certainly no better. According to Christian Rocca, the main problem we Westerners face is that we don't even recognize the threat to our freedoms; instead, we give ground every day to the domestic enemies of democracy and the rule of law.
And not just internal ones, I might add, considering the divisions, tactics, and ambiguities on the fundamental issue of rearmament that characterize both the majority and the opposition, as will be seen again today in Parliament.
Not to mention the vote cast yesterday in Strasbourg by the League and the Five Star Movement, once again joyfully united, against the resolution calling for the acceleration of Ukraine's accession to the EU.
