The upheaval where the Democratic Party found itself after the "non-women" decision of Sali Berisha, the unstoppable clan war to capture the seal, the firm, the headquarters, the leadership, the base and the National Council, make you think that this political force will never have the "chance" to come to power.
It is logical that every political force is created as a model of a group that emancipates itself, creates spaces for people, and aspires to come to power one day. The arrival of DP in power was actually "accidental" both in 1992 and in 2005.
That party has not understood, nor is it likely to understand, that a political group grows, integrates, modernizes, and gathers around itself the majority of the people, when it regenerates itself, presents new names and programs, and when it promises no economic boom , but European-oriented progress. Fortunately, Edi Rama and the Socialist Party have successfully done this to date. But let's go back to PD. For 28 months in the bosom of that political force, the unthinkable is happening.
The internal rebellion, the debates and even physical duels for taking over the headquarters, the ultimate statements between Berisha and Alibeaj, and finally putting Basha in "jail", show that this party has "long quarrels" among themselves. It will never be able to regroup, and therefore will never again be a party that aspires to come to power. Everything seems "broken", from the connection with the international factor (of Saliu and Luli), from the connection with the base and supporters (even though Saliu claims to have the majority) to the fatal disorganization of the structures of that political force. The return of Berisha, but also the lack of timely departure of Basha, created deep and irreparable cracks within that party. The incompetence of the PD leadership has been fatal.
This can be seen in the impossibility of the two "heads" Berisha-Basha, to administer and amnesty the angers, feuds, launching into irreversible accusations and clashes, which do not promise anything positive. In the state in which the DP has found itself today, you can only think of political survival, but never its coming to power. Neither Berisha nor Basha are clear where they stand politically.
One party claims that "we are the new conservatives", the other "we are the moderate right", while Edi Rama wins every election, increasing support among the people. Someone has said that "the Democratic Party will dissolve by 2025, and it will not even participate in the new elections". And this is due to the fact that fatigue and boredom are forcing the membership to finally abandon that party. As for the "lack of 250,000 votes on May 14 for DP" claimed by Berisha or Basha, we must say that "this is the most flagrant abuse of numbers".
DP has never had more votes than it received in the last municipal elections. Every "fairy tale" of the past simply aims to keep with the "contests", those who are left to that party in Tirana and its districts, to ensure its "political survival".
