Sali Berisha's statement today that Gazmend Bardhi is the most complete candidate to be reconfirmed as group leader was not a "bolt of thunder".
Although shortly after the humiliating result that the political leader of the Fier region received, there have been voices in the opposition opinion that pointed out this loss. In fact, as it currently stands, it seems clear that in addition to the voices, there is also a situation within the DP branch in Fier, where there is no small contestation against Gaz Bardhi.
But, immediately after the elections, a strong defense of Bardhi was noticed by circles close to Sali Berisha, mainly the media that he closely controls.
Berisha's media have not only given space to Bardhi, but have also attacked targets that the head of the Fier district has decided to blackmail, or use as an alibi for the deep defeat.
Meanwhile, today, the leader of the Democratic Party put his seal on this support, announcing that Bardhi will once again be in his mind to be appointed as group leader.

In reality, the group leader is simply an official who will deal with parliamentary procedures, because the chief of the deputies is the doctor himself. Neither age, nor energy, nor other troubles allow him to follow the official procedures included in the regulations.
On the other hand, on paper but also on the ground, Berisha does not have any name that can be called a winner from May 11. None of the heads of the regions has achieved their political objectives.
However, it is a fact that Bardhi's defeat was not only bitter, but also somewhat tragicomic, especially referring to Zeqine's soap opera, which managed to be elected to the Assembly precisely because it crossed Gaz Bardhi's red line.
A defeat that has been commented on quite a bit by DP circles in the southern part of the country, but also in the center. Comments that have been made both openly and within the internal environments of DP structures.
Berisha's quick reaction seems to be a clear political stance that he does not allow rebellions, so he immediately took Bardhi's side, warning others that there is no point in fighting.
On the other hand, Gaz Bardhi is more convenient for Berisha, especially now that he is politically weaker and cannot do the job so easily. Also, the service he provided to Sali Berisha, during the time when he was Lulzim Basha's general secretary, has been really quite valuable.
This is because stopping Basha's DP candidacy, when he had the DP seal, to run for mayor, caused the inertia of the opposition's votes to go towards Berisha, even if they were turning a blind eye.
With the receipt of the seal, things became easier to neutralize the territory from other opposition parties and factors. Although in reality the DP suffered a heavy political defeat on May 11, for Sali Berisha, the total number of 500 thousand votes is considered a very important objective.
After these votes, he considers them a share of his and a political asset of the leadership at the head of the Albanian opposition. In reality, this does not hold true, but especially when there is no real debate on this issue, it is easier to treat it as a closed matter.
A good and somewhat consensual solution would be to place Jorida Tabaku at the head of the parliamentary group. Something that would likely be better received by the public, not just by fanatical militancy.
But Berisha was careful to prevent this from happening from the beginning, encouraging characters to attack him even without reason. Adriana Kalaja, who generally had such a function in the DP, stood out.
Sali Berisha's close and secret relationship with Gaz Bardhi from January 8, 2022 until the elections of May 23, 2023, proved to be more than efficient. If it were not for this secret relationship, not only would the seal not be in the doctor's hands, but most likely the factotums within the opposition would not have this configuration. This relationship has been linear and has also functioned in relation to the list of deputies, where it seems that Bardhi's opinion has been important for the removal of some names. Such as Dash Sula, or others. This is clearly seen by who has dissatisfaction and retorts with him.
Add to this that Bardhi is also a test watermelon, as he has taken the lead in organizing chaos in the sessions, if Berisha has problems with the law and SPAK. However, more like a new appointment to the position of group leader, it seems like a temporary command, since tectonics for Berisha is mobile. So he is not interested in a mix of waters, until at least the beginning of next year, when the new session begins.
