It would be interesting to know what the professional and legal criteria are that separate a reprehensible celebration from an invisible protest, and how the police distinguish protesters from sympathizers.
According to the State Police, everything was fine. Public order was not violated. The people seen live on every television screen were holograms.
While those who stood in front of the building for 14 hours were simply admirers of the modern architecture of the SPAK/GJKKO building, in a new form of institutional tourism.
The police, in their response to the court/prosecution's notice, reduced everything to a technical level, a fancy way of saying: "Okay, something happened, but on paper nothing happened."
They lowered the bar at police station no. 3, but there are some details that expose it:
The rally of sympathizers did not take place on the "public" side of the building, but on the official side!
If you are in front of the public door of an institution, it is a protest (the case of the PD, PL), but if you are in front of the official door of a constitutional institution, then it is a protocol visit!
But let's take this logic seriously. If there was no violation of public order, then why all this police cordon? Why all this alarm? Why giant screens in the police operations rooms showing live "the escalating situation"? Or maybe they were watching a Turkish series?
In fact, the police have a clear record: the day before, they announced that they are investigating all the protesters (8 citizens) for disturbing the public peace, because they were celebrating in front of prison 302. Apparently, eight people make more noise than a crowd standing for 14 hours in front of an institution.
It would be interesting to know what the professional and legal criteria are that separate a reprehensible celebration from an invisible protest and how the police distinguish protesters from sympathizers. Maybe they have a secret algorithm.
In conclusion: the protest did not happen. And if you saw it happen, don't believe your eyes, but read the police report. Otherwise, you risk being prosecuted for misinterpretation of reality.
PS What if SPAK does what it hasn't done so far: launch an investigation primarily against the Director General of Police and the Minister of Interior (who also has the Guard under his command) and ask for both of their phones? Sorry. Only one, because the other's cell phone was taken away 6 months ago!
