In front of SPAK and the justice reform, which the socialist government has often tried to capture and distort, Berishism offers Gjin Gjon, the ugliest symbol of the corruption of the Albanian judiciary.
The victory of the PD seal, in addition to enthusiasm, has also created the wrong illusion in the Berishist camp that the only problem Berisha's DP is now facing is the issue of non-women. This illusion has been nurtured not only by the Berishists but also by their critics who have often focused their attacks on Berishism on non-women.
And yet, the real problem of Berishism today is not the American or British non-women, but the non-women that the overwhelming majority has given to Berishism since the elections of 2013. This verdict was repeated both in 2017 and in 2021. The main loser of the last three parliamentary elections has been Berishism, which failed to hide behind Basha's empty smile. In short, the vast majority of the Albanian electorate today, and most likely tomorrow, does not see Berishism as a governing alternative, despite the atrocities of the current government.
The idea that an opposition can come to power simply as a result of the degradation of the government fell in the parliamentary elections of 2021. Therefore, the probability is very small that tomorrow, that is, in the elections of 2025, Berisha will be transformed into an alternative as a result of the degradation to rule Rama. The political standard offered by Berishism is so low that it easily perpetuates the socialists and Edi Rama in power.
This is for the simple reason that the Berisha government, beyond its successes, has marked some of the most explosive corruption scandals of the Albanian transition, such as Gërdeci where his family was directly involved. The latter's enrichment through power remains a political fact even if it is never legally proven. Without mentioning his co-governance with Ilir Meta, whose corruption has been recorded in voice and image.
But if Gërdeci was one of the most shocking explosions of Albanian corruption, January 21, with the killing of peaceful protesters in front of the prime minister, marked one of the lowest points of Albanian democracy. Berisha's violent reaction to the media and the justice system, which simply sought to whitewash the January 21 massacre, is one of the darkest episodes of Albanian democracy. Just as the denunciation of the General Prosecutor Ina Rama as a "boulevard prostitute" by Prime Minister Berisha is a monument of executive violence against the independence of the justice system as well as masculinist violence in our public sphere.
Of course, at this point, anyone can argue that the problem is not with the opposition but with the degradation of the Rama government. And the degradation of the current government is undeniable. The problem is that it constantly pales in the face of the degradation of the leftist opposition, which only in this aspect always wins the race with power.
Faced with Rama's authoritarianism, which has turned the SP into a personal pedestal, Berishism has transformed the DP into the private property of the Berisha family, which sooner or later will be inherited by the son or daughter. In front of SPAK and the justice reform, which the socialist government has often tried to capture and distort, Berishism offers Gjin Gjon, the ugliest symbol of the corruption of the Albanian judiciary.
Faced with a socialist parliamentary group that has degraded into an extension of Edi Rama's anti-constitutional whims, Berishism offers a parliamentary group without principles and without character that constantly licks what it has just spat. In front of a prime minister who allows the investigation but does not take any responsibility for the corruption of his deputy prime minister Arben Ahmetaj, we have the standard of Berisha who defended the corruption of deputy prime minister Meta with violence and threats to justice.
The continuous corruption of the opposition by Berishism is one of the biggest tragedies of Albanian democracy today, which eliminates any hope of renewal and the socialists in power. Berishism has already transformed the PD into a political swamp where every principle, ideal, norm or hope of political renewal dies. The only political function of Berishism today is the elimination of any oppositional alternative and the provision of a lower political standard than the socialist government. It is for this reason that he was declared non grata by the majority of the Albanian electorate, much earlier than by the USA or Great Britain./Lapsi
