Baton (rubber baton), money and propaganda, the three pillars of Vučić's rule.
Force, corruption and lies. The latter, although it seems the best, targets the largest part of the statistical pie, where there are three important target groups that a year ago turned alarmingly against the government and in favor of its opponents.
The soft SNS voters, the soft abstainers and the traditional swingers under the wave of the great tragedy in Novi Sad were poured into the basket that collects not only those who are dissatisfied with the current situation in the country, but who openly blame the ruling party for that situation and demand responsibility, i.e. its removal. That suddenly established imbalance lasted for months, Serbia fell into the vortex of a comprehensive crisis, events followed without any control and order.
A year later, Vučić is slowly winning back lost voters with old methods, and the propaganda is more visible and effective. The propaganda equation used is: assertion-repetition-attachment. Every day, the regime’s machine attacks its opponents, making allegations of their immorality, inhumanity, and corruption. These allegations are made without logical reasoning, often without clear evidence, but they are compact, incendiary, always supported by the consent of the regime’s influence agents who are paid to shape public opinion with this diabolical masquerade.
And it spins, spins, spins until it creates dizziness in the audience, and this dizziness causes nausea towards the image and the part of the victim, so that the victim is permanently marked, branded as guilty and becomes a signal for the established Pavlovian reflex, every time it appears in a public space to an already trained audience, it causes nausea, discomfort, deviation. This reaction becomes contagious, because the number of repetitions is such that it creates an epidemic, and is made possible, among other things, by the spread of Informer metastases on local televisions, by the orchestrated action of the print, electronic and conventional media that are under the strict control of the regime's spin masters.
Unfortunately, the target of the infection is not only the three mentioned layers. Carriers of the infection subversively enter the ranks of the enemy. Distrust, despair, dissatisfaction, hopelessness, the futility of any form of resistance are spreading. The growing antagonism between the opposition and the student movement is visible, sparks are flying in the municipalities before the local elections, people are tired of the blockades, farmers are left in the mud... The insurgent enthusiasm is falling, dissatisfaction is present, but everything is again at stake because as time goes by, everyone is at a loss, especially those whose time is running out, and these are us.
The beliefs of the masses disappear when the value of that belief is called into question, that is, when the postulates of that fiction are subjected to scrutiny. That is why the threats to throw the student "commandos" out the window, the black myth about the beardless commissars, the cardinal sin of their inexperience, haste, naivety, exclusivity, are so persistent. Vučić's attacks are part of the disease that spreads among his patients, but the mutual attacks of his opponents are a special kind of distraction. All this leads to a tendency to deflate.
It is necessary to reach a strategic agreement of all anti-regime forces as soon as possible, then develop tactical configurations and begin work on the ground. The unconditional obligation of all parties should be to cease "friendly fire", launch a joint campaign on the platform of the minimum program, expand support for trade unions, unions... Mobilization is a long-term and complex process.
Only an army can defeat an army, only believers can defeat a cult. A clear distinction must be made between what is political action and what is anarchist adventurism. You must send clear messages, make effective performances, work on the image of unity and solidarity and perhaps most importantly, confirm and increase every day the hope that victory is possible./ Adapted from “Pamphlet” by “Danas”
