It was 6.15pm on Wednesday afternoon when a van stopped for several minutes at the motorway tollbooth, without paying the toll, possibly waiting for the police to move, who had set up a roadblock just after the A22 motorway exit.
This action has attracted the attention of the police who decided to carry out a check. The inspection showed that the Albanian, a resident of Lombardy, had numerous criminal records and crimes of various natures and seriousness, including drug trafficking.
At that moment, it was decided to continue with the full control of the two passengers and the vehicle, during which a black fabric bag was found in the back of the van, well hidden among work tools and household items. Inside were 10 vacuum packs of marijuana, with a total weight of 5.5 kg.
The 41-year-old Albanian, in good condition with a residence permit and craftsman profession, was subsequently arrested for the criminal offense of possession for the purpose of trading narcotics.
The amount of drugs seized could be divided into at least 45,000 doses, with an estimated retail value on the illegal market of nearly 1 million euros.
