A fatal accident occurred at midnight this Tuesday in Lezha. The incident was recorded at the Rrila intersection, where at around 03:30 a.m. a vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian.
As a result of the impact, the pedestrian lost his life, while his identity has not yet been revealed, even though 12 hours have passed since the incident.
The 46-year-old driver of the vehicle, who fled the scene after the accident, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Investigators are continuing verifications to identify the victim and to fully clarify the circumstances of the accident.
"The Traffic Police Services, as a result of rapid investigative and police actions, identified and arrested citizen IM, 46 years old, who left the scene of the accident (Rrila intersection), where at around 03:30, he collided with the vehicle he was driving, a still unidentified pedestrian, who consequently lost his life. Verifications continue to identify the citizen who lost his life, as well as to clarify the circumstances of the accident. The procedural materials were referred to the Lezha Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
