Lezha Police have provided details on the serious accident recorded on Monday evening on the Thumanë-Laç road, where a 56-year-old man lost his life and three other people were injured.
In connection with the incident, the blue uniforms have arrested the driver of one of the vehicles, citizen Orgest Peca, 20 years old, resident of Durrës, accused of "Violation of road traffic rules".
The victim of the accident is Nikolin Gjoni, 56 years old. Meanwhile, three passengers traveling in his vehicle were injured and transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for more specialized treatment.
"Road Traffic Specialists arrested citizen OP, 20 years old, resident of Durrës, in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense of "Violation of road traffic rules."
At around 23:30, on 19.05.2026, on the Thumanë-Laç road, the vehicle driven by the 20-year-old collided with the vehicle driven by citizen N. Gj., 56 years old.
As a result of the accident, citizen N. Gj. lost his life, while citizens P. Gj., 75 years old, M. Gj., 70 years old and V. Gj., 56 years old, passengers in the other vehicle, were injured and transported to the Trauma Hospital, Tirana, for more specialized medical assistance.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
