Korça police have reacted after accusations against a candidate for deputy in the Korça district that he had offered money in exchange for votes.
The police have completed verifications on the allegations of vote buying against SP candidate Arian Jaupllari and have concluded that there is no evidence to support these claims.
The investigation began after the DP candidate, Edmond Spaho, published two videos on social media in which a young man from the village of Podgorie, Maliq, claimed to have been offered money in exchange for his vote. The videos sparked immediate political reactions, including a public denial from Jaupllari and statements from the young man’s family, who described the situation as psychological pressure and manipulation.
According to the official police announcement, at the conclusion of the investigations conducted under the direction of the Korça Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings were initiated against citizen AP, 34 years old, resident of Podgorica, with a previous criminal record for offenses in the field of narcotics and violence.
AP turns out to be the person who recorded the videos and has refused to hand over the device with which the recording was made for examination, thereby obstructing the investigation. He is charged with the criminal offense of "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth."
From the analysis of the footage and the evidence collected, the police conclude that there are no elements that prove illegal actions by the SP candidate for deputy or other persons involved in the incident.
"Police structures are maximally committed to guaranteeing law enforcement and a peaceful and fair electoral process ," the police statement said.
