Italian police have uncovered other episodes of robberies committed by a gang of four Albanians arrested three days ago in the Caserta area, during an operation accompanied by violent clashes, in which six police officers were injured.
According to the authorities, the criminal group appears to have carried out a series of raids with damages amounting to thousands of euros in the province of Frosinone, as well as in the regions of Campania and Lazio. The operation to arrest them took place between Cesa and San Marcellino, with the involvement of over 100 State Police forces.
In San Marcellino, a relative of the wife of one of the arrested men, who weighed around 100 kilograms, jumped from the first floor onto officers in an attempt to help his relative escape, injuring five officers. Another officer was directly attacked by one of the robbers and suffered injuries for which he received hospital treatment.
The four arrested men, originally from a village in northern Albania, introduced themselves as “cousins”, although they had no family ties. They operated according to a set pattern, six days a week, from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, entering homes even when the owners were inside and leaving in powerful vehicles.
When discovered, gang members threatened victims or used hard objects to ensure their departure. During the operation, valuables and jewelry worth up to 1 million euros were seized, as well as around 100 thousand euros in cash, weapons and other materials used for criminal activity.
The investigation, led by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere in collaboration with the Caserta Flying Squad, began after the robbery of a medical apartment in San Leucio and led to the documentation of dozens of thefts in Campania and southern Lazio, including the province of Frosinone. Italian authorities say the gang was neutralized thanks to the coordinated intervention and determination of the State Police.
