A case of theft has been discovered in Tirana, where an amount of 40 thousand pounds was taken from the deposit boxes in a supermarket, through a scheme prepared in detail.
According to investigative data, citizen M. Xh. is suspected of having developed the plan several days before the incident. She entered the market premises and managed to obtain the original key to one of the lockers used by customers to leave personal belongings.
After discovering the missing key, the store employees replaced it with another copy, unaware of the possible use of the stolen key.
On the day of the incident, a customer, an employee at a currency exchange office, deposited a bag containing £40,000 into the cash register using the new key. At the same time, the suspect used the original key to open the cash register and withdraw the amount, without raising any immediate suspicion.
Investigators managed to locate the stolen amount in the premises of the entity where M. Xh worked. The money was seized as material evidence, while charges of theft were filed against her.
"As part of the operation codenamed "Case", citizen M. Xh. was arrested, after allegedly stealing 40,000 pounds, temporarily left in a deposit box in a market, from a buyer (employee at a currency exchange entity).
The amount of pounds was found in the entity where citizen M. Xh. worked, and was seized as material evidence.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police statement said.
