The Civil Guard of Spain and the Local Police of Altea in Alicante arrested 3 Albanians for the theft of a vehicle worth about 40 thousand euros in Italy.
After the vehicle was found, it was found that the perpetrators had changed the original number plates to others from a vehicle from Luxembourg.
The investigation started on April 29, when the main post of the Civil Guard in Altea received a call from Italy. A woman has reported that she reported the theft of her vehicle, worth about 40,000 euros, in her country. According to the complainant, the vehicle's Global Positioning System (GPS) indicated its location on a road in Altea.
Several units of the Civil Guard were immediately moved to the area together with a patrol of the Altea Local Police.
After the search, they found a vehicle that matched the characteristics of the denunciation, parked in front of a house, but the car had a Luxembourg license plate.
In the vicinity of the house, the agents identified three people who initially claimed to be the owners of the vehicle and who had been living in the house for a week.
After checking the chassis number, agents confirmed it was the vehicle stolen in Italy, which had a European mark in the Italian-made Schengen Information System and had false number plates affixed to prevent detection.
The three persons, two men and a woman between the ages of 28 and 38 with Albanian nationality, were arrested for stealing the vehicle and for forging documents.
The arrested together with the seized vehicle have been placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court No. 1 Benidorm, which has decreed the release of all with the setting of the security measure.
