
Mehmet Akman, a 50-year-old Turkish citizen, was arrested by the authorities at the Kapshtica customs office.
The Blues announce that this citizen was declared an international wanted man after he was sentenced by the Turkish court to 10 years and 2 months in prison for the production and sale of narcotics.
Procedures for his extradition to Turkey continue.
"Convicted by the Turkish authorities, with 10 years and 2 months of imprisonment, for the production and sale of narcotics, captured by the Border Police and arrested for the purpose of extradition, the 50-year-old declared an international wanted man.
The Border Police Services, in addition to additional measures to deal with the flow, have increased vigilance to fight illegalities at the border, as well as to stop citizens who are signaled as wanted and try to enter or leave this border point.
In this context, in cooperation with the services of DVP Korçë and as a result of the detailed interview and exchange of information between Interpol Tirana and counterparts in Turkey, he was caught at the entrance of Albania and arrested by the Narcotics Investigation Section of DVP Korçë, with purpose of extradition to Turkey, the Turkish citizen:
Mehmet Akman, 50 years old, born in Turkey and resident in the Netherlands.
He was declared an international wanted man, after the High Court of Istanbul sentenced him to 10 years and 2 months in prison for the criminal offense "Production and sale of narcotics", provided by the Turkish Penal Code. The procedures for the extradition of the 50-year-old to Turkey are continuing," the police announced.
