One of the perpetrators of the attack with over 100 bullets on Saturday evening in the village of Gruemirë in Malësia e Madhe is known to be the nephew of Bardhok Planaj, who was executed on April 4, 2021.
The case concerns 27-year-old Rivaldo Zmijanej alias Rivaldo Planaj from the village of Shtoj i Vjetër. The young man, together with Erion Vocrri from the village of Hot i Ri, went on February 1, 2025 to the village of Gruemirë in Malesia e Madhe, where they opened fire after their plans to steal were thwarted.
The nephew of Bardhok Planaj, otherwise known as the "Godfather of Shkodra", together with Vocrri went to the village to steal, but were caught by three residents, Mirsad, Edison and Besim Kurtaj, with whom they argued.
During the pursuit by three members of the Kurtaj family, which lasted 10 minutes, they fired about 100 bullets with Kalashnikovs. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of this shooting.
Immediately after this event, they fled in an unknown direction, while the police have been working for hours to capture them.
The Murder of Bardhok Planaj
Known by the nickname "The Godfather of Shkodra", the apartment builder and drug trafficker was executed by a hail of bullets on April 4, 2021 in Shkodra.
He was heading towards Malesia e Madhe, when a team of professional snipers chased him and killed him 50 meters from his home, in the village of Dobraç i Ri. More than 40 Kalashnikov bullets were fired at his SUV, causing his instant death. The execution of the "Godfather of Shkodra" was considered a major blow to the criminal world, as his name carried great weight in this city and in the northern area in general.
Bardhok Planaj has been included in police files several times as a person with a history of drug trafficking. In 2014, he was convicted in absentia for "Money Laundering", "Forgery of Documents" and "Unauthorized Construction".
For these charges, he was arrested in 2018 and even had a 10-story building seized, suspected of being built with money from criminal sources and without a building permit.
The most sensational event is that of 2014, which is related to a drug trafficking case from the Viluni Lagoon and which also stirred Albanian politics.
On September 30, 2014, at the place called "Rana e Hedhun" between the Viluni Lagoon and Shëngjin, border police and Guardia di Finanza services saw large black bags being thrown into the sea from a floating vehicle.
After they were pulled from the sea, it turned out that inside the bags there were drugs weighing 210 kg. The next day, at a place called Grykëderdhja e Bunës in Velipojë, border police forces found 15 more bags weighing 594 kg thrown into the sea.
