The Court of Special Appeal decided today to uphold the life imprisonment sentence of Redjan Rraja, accused of the assassination of former prosecutor Arjan Ndoja, in November 2019.
Meanwhile, for his friend, Ariol Halilajn, the court left intact the decision to sentence him to 35 years in prison.
Both people are accused of the assassination attempt that took place near the Shkozet overpass on the Durrës-Tirana axis, where Durrës prosecutor Arjan Ndoja, currently dismissed from vetting, was injured, the other passenger Aleksandër Laho, known as "Rrumi i Shijaku" and the driver Andi Maloku, who died a few days after the event, reports 'Ora News'.
In connection with this serious event, Plaurent Dervishaj, Julian Meçaj, Bledar Polovina, Amar alias Dritan Shkëmbi, Ramazan Rraja and Endrit Sinani were also charged, who are being tried in a separate trial by Arjol Halilaj and Redjan Rraja.
This case was initially investigated by prosecutor Anton Martini and Besim Hajdermataj. With the departure from "Vetting" of these two prosecutors, the case passed for investigation to the head of the sector for the investigation of organized crime, Altin Dumani.
After his election as head of the SPAK special prosecutor's office, the file was handed over to prosecutor Adnan Xholi, who represented the investigation and the accusation at the two levels of the special court.
