An incident happened today in one of Kurum International's plants in the former Metallurgical Combine of Elbasan.
During the installation tests of a machine, a serious accident occurred. As a result, the engineer Mikel Caku, who is also the brother of the former Minister of Education and at the same time the Socialist MP Evis Kushi, was injured.
He was first transported to the Regional Hospital of Elbasan and then for a more specialized treatment in a private hospital after an iron rod detached from the machine damaged his leg.
It is suspected that the accident happened as a result of not knowing the technological process of the machine that the engineer and a worker were trying to put to work. Meanwhile, the Elbasan police have documented the incident which is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office.
" Elbasan/On 08.01.2024, a 58-year-old resident of Elbasan, a citizen of MC, went to the Elbasan hospital for medical assistance. After receiving the notification, the Elbasan Police Station Services and the investigative team went to the hospital and then to the scene and performed all investigative and procedural actions to clarify the circumstances of this case. From the investigative actions, it was found that in the premises of "Kurum", the citizen MC, 58 years old, with the duty of fire safety expert, during the expertise in the Lamination Sector, was accidentally injured in the leg by an iron rod detached from the production machinery. The 58-year-old is under the care of doctors, out of danger for life. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Elbasan General Jurisdiction, for further actions ," the police said.
